This 3 piece banner pole is widely used by Unions on marches. It consist of 2 upright poles at the end for carrying and 1 cross bar pole for hanging the banner. We make these sets to order and the cross bar can be cut or made to most sizes for your flag. The trade union banners and poles history goes away back and were mostly home-made by handymen in the march. It was not until later in the movement that they were made commercially and it was big business all over the United Kingdom. Some of these designs were works of art and great pride was attached to them. The banners lost their appeal in the early eighties and many were lost or were damaged beyond repair. As unions merged some names changed and could not be used. There are some fine examples of these works of art in museums. There are some good designs in the BEAMISH why not pay them a visit. It is a great day out.
Adventure 1 is one of a few companies that still make the banner poles. They can be a cheap simple design to a more elaborate set up with brass fittings.

Of course marching bands and Trade Union had banner poles made in all shapes and sizes. Mostly home made by members of the union. There has been a revival in this sort of display over the last few years. At marching band supplies we have developed a robust value for money banner pole. Having a Banners gives a group identity and it is worth getting good quality poles for the banner. Why pay hundreds of pounds for a banner and then use old pieces of wood to hang the banner from.It is easy to see the groups that have taken care and show the banners proudly. Banners poles started with the banners as long ago as, and before, the Romans who marched with banners and flags all all descriptions. Some to identify the different legions much as today.
We now do a budget banner pole for those who do not want or need an elaborate system. This one does not have finials, brass fittings or varnished wood.It is plain wood with sleeves and hooks for banner. This one can be made to any length or width.
